Celebrating Gopashtami at the Goshala
Garlands, prayers and a feast of jaggery for every cow.
Gopashtami is the festival of the cow — the day Lord Krishna is said to have first taken the cows of Gokul out to graze. At our Goshala, it is the happiest day of the year.
Morning puja
The day began before sunrise. Sevaks bathed the cows, decorated their horns with colour and tied fresh marigold garlands around their necks. A puja was held in the Goshala courtyard, with families from Chandawal Nagar and nearby villages joining in.
A feast for every cow
After the aarti, every cow — from little Bholu to old Kamdhenu — was fed jaggery, green fodder and rotis by the visitors' own hands. Children were the happiest helpers of all.
Seva for the year ahead
Many families chose this day to begin a monthly seva or adopt a cow in the name of a loved one. Thank you to everyone who came, served and gave.
If you could not join us this year, you are always welcome to visit. Come feed them with your own hands.
