Kamdhenu, abandoned at 14
Left outside a temple when she stopped giving milk. Now she naps in the sun every afternoon.
For fourteen years she gave milk to a family. When she stopped, she was tied outside a temple one evening and left there.
Devotees fed her for a few days, but she was old, her joints were weak and she could not find food on her own. A temple priest called us when she collapsed in the heat.
At the Goshala our vets treated her for dehydration and joint pain and put her on a soft diet and supplements. She was slow to trust anyone at first.
Today we call her Kamdhenu. She is gentle and slow, loves jaggery, and naps in the sun every afternoon. She will never be abandoned again — this is her home for the rest of her life.
